Organization of African Instituted Churches Kenya-Chapter (OAIC-K Chapter)
Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) is the representative body that brings together African Independent and Instituted Churches (AICs). It was started in 1978 to offer them a forum for sharing their concerns and enable them to minister effectively to the needs of their members and their communities. OAIC as an International Organization established its international headquarters in the early 1980s in Nairobi. OAIC works through countries referred to as Chapters.
AIC’s are homegrown African churches, founded originally during the colonial period, with developed indigenous forms of worship, theology and social organization, all deeply inspired by a vision that is both Christian and African. As followers of Jesus Christ, AICs are inspired to address
the challenges they face, such as entrenched poverty, ill health and the breakdown of African cultural and social systems. These churches in Kenya came together to form OAIC-Kenya Chapter to have a collective voice in responding to their challenges in a more elaborate effort. It has a following of approximately 11 million members
Some of our members include
Independent Methodist Church among others 250 churches registered through the Registrar of Societies in Kenya.
